Standard VS Reverse Polarity Types
Reverse polarity type refers to the reverse gender of the interface and contact pin design, not the signal polarity. Coax with reverse polarity type or RP-SMA connector has a center receptacle instead of a male pin. Normal SMA connectors are incompatible with RP-SMA connectors. Coax with RP-SMA connectors are used by Wi-Fi equipment to comply with FCC regulations. These connectors inhibit consumers from breaching airspace with short distance transmissions.
