14 gauge speaker wire is suitable for 30-50 foot runs, anything longer requires thicker cable to carry the signal. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the cable jacket. Also consider strand count before making your purchase. The more flexible the speaker wire needs to be, to run around obstacles, the higher the strand count you’ll want.
