The Fiber OWL 7 is a high-accuracy, high-resolution, microprocessor-controlled optical power meter. It has an attractive handheld case, a large color LCD, and a 10-key keypad for easy data entry. The universal detector port comes with two adapters: 2.5mm for ST, SC, and FC; and 1.25mm for LC, MU, and other SFF connectors. The length tester port is SC.

The Fiber OWL 7 is powered by a lithium polymer rechargeable battery that will operate for up to 50 hours of continuous operation, and includes a built-in auto shutdown feature. Each fiber run is stored with the link name, date of test, cabling standard, fiber type, fiber length, reference value (for up to two wavelengths), reference cable type, connections, splices, and temperature.
