Coaxial Cable Products
Coax RG59, RG6, RG11 Cables, Tools, BNC, F-Type and RCA Connectors
Coaxial cable, or coax, is a type of cable with an inner conductor surrounded by an insulating layer, surrounded by a conducting shield. Most coax cables also have a final outer insulating layer such as PVC (polyvinyl chloride.) We offer a full line of coaxial cable products including connectors and tools.
Coaxial cables are labeled by their RG-type. The RG type designation originated as cable adhering to ‘Radio Guide’ standards, which were used by the military. Since most coax cable no longer meets military specifications, the RG designation is used to pair up coax cable with their respective connectors.
Coax is most commonly used for for CATV and CCTV applications. We carry a variety of RG59, RG6, and RG11 coaxial cable with various levels of shielding. RG59 Coaxial Cable is suitable for low power analog video and radio frequency (RF) signal connections, and has an impedance of 75 ohms. RG59 siamese coaxial cable is ideal for closed circuit security camera installations, since it has both a cable for audio/video signal transmission and a stranded power cable. RG59 coax does however have slight signal loss over distances over 100 feet.
For CATV installations requiring a more robust solution, our RG6 Coaxial Cable is perfect for both residential and commercial applications. Our RG6 coax cable is thicker than RG59, and transmits data at 1.5Ghz, over double that of RG59. RG6 coax cable usually has aluminum shielding instead of copper braiding. It’s higher level of shielding provides the RG6 coax cable greater signal retention, making it preferable for digital cable and satellite television.
When signal retention is top priority, our RG11 Coaxial Cable is preferable. It has the thickest diameter and can operate at frequencies as high as 3 GHz. RG11 coax cable can run at lengths up to 400 feet without major signal degradation, making it excellent for connections between antennas/satellite dishes and receivers. It is also used for large buildings, since RG11 coax is the least flexible coaxial cable.
For outdoor applications, we carry both RG59 and RG6 Outdoor Coax Cable. These coaxial cables have UV rated jackets that can withstand hot and cold temperatures. When looking for a cost effective cabling solution with high signal retention, consider our LMR® Equal RF Coaxial Cable. Our MIG line of coax cable features performance levels equivalent to Times Microwave’s LMR® cable. These coax cables have extremely effective shielding at 95% coverage for ultra low signal loss.
Make sure you have Coax Connectors compatible with your installation. Most RG59 coax cables use Bayonet Neill Concelman (BNC) or Radio Corporation of America (RCA) connectors, while RG6 and RG11 coax tend to use F connectors. The advantages of BNC connectors are that you can visually confirm the connection, and they provide consistent and simple connections.
RCA connectors were originally a low cost and simple design used for component audio and video connections. F connectors are radio frequency connectors used for cable and satellite television applications. They have excellent 75 ohm impedance and are reliable for a wide range of applications.
