CMP

CMP cable stands for "Communications Multipurpose Cable, Plenum" - "plenum-rated cable." It is designed to restrict flame propagation to no more than five feet and limit the amount of smoke emitted during a fire. CMP cable is suitable for plenum spaces, such as dropped ceilings or raised floors.

CMR

CMR cable stands for "Communications Multipurpose Cable, Riser" -"riser-rated cable." CMR is designed to prevent fires from spreading between floors through risers or vertical shafts. CMR cable is flame-retardant to prevent the spread of fire from one floor to another.

Shielded

FPLR (Riser) or FPLP (Plenum) Shielded is a power-limited fire alarm shielded cable, that has the same components as the standard FPLR or FPLP but, includes an aluminum polyester foil shield and drain wire to protect against electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Unshielded

FFPLR - Riser cables are suitable for usage in a vertical run through a shaft or from floor to floor within a building. FPLP -Plenum cables are accepted by NEC to be used in air ducts and plenum spaces, that are used for the flow of environmental air.
