Standard VS Reverse Polarity TypesReverse polarity type refers to the reverse gender of the interface and contact pin design, not the signal polarity. Coax with reverse polarity type or RP-SMA connector has a center receptacle instead of a male pin. Normal SMA connectors are incompatible with RP-SMA connectors. Coax with RP-SMA connectors are used by Wi-Fi equipment to comply with FCC regulations. These connectors inhibit consumers from breaching airspace with short distance transmissions.
