Description

CAT6 Stranded Cable 550 Mhz

Our CAT6 Unshielded Stranded Cable is excellent for indoor voice, data, video and security networking applications. Whether you are wiring your home, office or entire campus, we have the network solution that is right for you.

This CAT6 Unshielded Stranded Cable is the optimal fit for reliable installations where the cable will be used indoors. Featuring 8 conductors (4-Pairs) of stranded copper with a high density polyethylene (HDPE) insulation and a PVC CM rated RoHS Compliant jacket. Our ETL Verified Unshielded Stranded Cable is designed for indoor LAN applications, providing the best solution for indoor installation runs that require the cable to be installed in walls or any other non-plenum riser rated areas. One common application for stranded cable is fabricating custom patch cables due to the flexibility that the stranded cable configuration offers.

In our commitment to delivering top-notch bulk Ethernet cables to our customers, our cable meet and/or exceeds CAT6 TIA ANSI/TIA-568.2-D standards. Our CAT6 Unshielded Stranded Cable is also manufactured to meet current CAT6 guidelines and is verified by outside standards organizations including ETL so the cable is ETL Verified as well as RoHS Compliant.

Additional Information

Additional Information

Solid Wire: Also called solid-core or single-strand wire, consists of one piece of metal wire. Stranded wire is composed of a bundle of small-gauge wires to make a larger conductor and more flexible than solid wire. Solid wire is generally used for in-wall wiring where there is little need for flexibility in the wire.

CMR: The 'R' in CMR is for 'Riser'. Riser type cables are engineered to prevent the spread of fire from floor to floor and are suitable for vertical shaft applications.

CMP: The 'P' in CMP is for Plenum. Cables meeting type CMP requirements are suitable for installation in ducts and plenums without the use of conduit. These cables are designed for fire resistance and low-smoke and toxin producing characteristics.

CMX: The 'X' in CMX is for Outside Plant. Cables meeting type CMX requirements are suitable for installation in outdoor applications where exposed to the elements.

Solid Core Cable vs Stranded Cable

A solid core cable uses one solid wire per conductor and in a four pair cable there would be a total of eight solid wires. Stranded conductor uses multiple wires wrapped around each other in each conductor and in a four pair with seven strands per conductor cable, there would be a total of 56 wires.

Solid core cable is supposed to be used for permanently installed runs. It is less flexible than stranded cable and is more prone to failure if repeatedly flexed. Stranded cable is used for fly leads at the patch panel and for connections from wall-ports to end devices, as it resists cracking of the conductors. A stranded core is generally more expensive than a solid core.

Connectors need to be designed differently for solid cores than for stranded. Use of a connector with the wrong cable type is likely to lead to unreliable cabling. Plugs designed for solid and stranded cores are readily available, and we even offer plugs designed for use with both types.
